SCT 34th Annual Meeting (2013)

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, USA - MAY 19-22, 2013

The 34th Annual Meeting, held May 19 - 22, 2013 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA, furthered the time-honored tradition of SCT Annual Meetings fusing a diverse, dynamic and engaging conference program with unique networking opportunities among leading researchers and rising stars of the international clinical trials community.

The 2013 SCT Education Committee co-chaired by Stan Shapiro and Domenic Reda orchestrated a terrific slate of pre-conference workshops held on Sunday May 19. Twelve half-day workshops offered attendees valuable educational opportunities in diverse areas of clinical trials research and practice. In addition to the half-day workshops, the 2013 meeting featured a new pre-conference event - a Sunday evening workshop tutorial presented by Cyrus Mehta.

The meeting officially opened on Monday May 20 at the Curtis Meinert Lecture presented by Atul Butte on "Transforming a Trillion Points of Data into Diagnostics, Therapeutics, and New Insights into Disease." The closing Founders Lecture, presented by Richard Saitz on Wednesday May 22, addressed "Challenges for Health Behavior Trials from Design to Practice: The Example of Unhealthy Alcohol Use." Prominent keynote speakers are a hallmark of the SCT meeting tradition, and SCT is very grateful for the valuable contributions of Atul Butte and Richard Saitz to the overall program success.

SCT Program Chair Chris Coffey and the 2013 Program Committee packed the two and a half day meeting schedule with an admirable array of Invited Sessions organized and presented by leading researchers on cutting-edge topics, and complimented by contributed poster and podium presentations by the rising stars of the clinical trials community.
