International Clinical Trials' Day    May 20, 2008

ECRIN has launched in 2005 a yearly communication event, International Clinical Trials' Day, whose objective is to allow debates between representatives of European patients associations, clinical scientists, scientific agencies, industry sponsors, ethics committees, competent authorities, trials registries, medical journal editors, the EU Commission, and news media in order to improve the patients' and public awareness on the challenges raised by clinical research.

Each year, the International Clinical Trials' Day is celebrated around the world on or near the 20th of May in order to celebrate the day that James Lind started his famous trial on the 20th of May 1747

Cancer Biostatistics Workshop    July 13-19, 2008, The Lodge at Sonoma, CA.

The American Association for Cancer Research has developed the Cancer Biostatistics Workshop - an intensive, week-long program - to provide essential background information in state-of-the-art cancer biology, translational and clinical cancer research, new statistical techniques arising from biological discoveries, novel translational study designs for targeted therapies, and rigorous study design and analysis methods to junior and mid-level biostatisticians.

Acceptance into the workshop will be on a competitive basis through an online application process that will open in December 2007 and close on March 2, 2008. All successful junior faculty applicants will receive financial assistance to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact Mark Mendenhall, AACR Sr. Program Administrator, at (215) 440-9300, ext. 129 or mendenhall@aacr.org.

    Clinical Trials Education Series
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has developed the Clinical Trials Education Series (CTES). The CTES is a collection of more than 20 multimedia resources to educate cancer patients, health care professionals, advocates, and the general public about cancer prevention and treatment clinical trials. The series includes materials in a variety of formats, including workbooks, videos, booklets, and brochures.
