2010 SCT Fellow: Jay Siegel
Jay has contributed significantly to the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials through his leadership positions at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in industry and is one of the world's leading authorities on clinical trials from a regulatory perspective. As Director of the Office of Therapeutic Research and Review in the Center of Biologics Evaluation and Research at the FDA, Jay was responsible for the review of hundreds of trials of novel products. He made major contributions to policies of the FDA and contributed significantly to the International Conference on Harmonization. In 2002, Jay left the FDA to become President of Centecor Research & Development, one of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) companies. Jay has continued to make major contribution to the conduct of trials serving on the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI), a joint effort of FDA and Duke University. Finally, Jay has been a long-time, active member of SCT serving on the Board of Directors, the Development Committee and as Associate Editor for the Journal.
