2010 SCT Fellow: Jeffrey Probstfield
Jeff has been a productive clinical trialist for over 30 years, beginning at University of Minnesota, then Baylor College of Medicine where he worked on the Lipid Research Clinics Trial. In 1985, he became a Project Officer at NHLBI working on the Systolic Hypertension in the Elderly Program, Asymptomatic Carotid, and Studies of Left Ventricular Dysfunction). After NHLBI, he went to the University of Washington, where he continued his extensive involvement in large multi-center clinical trials, including the ALLHAT, Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering to Prevent Heart Attack Trial), HOPE (the Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation study), and ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Disease in Diabetes) studies. His interests and contributions to clinical trial methodology have focused on recruitment and adherence for which he is well known and sought after as an expert. Finally, Jeff has been a long-time, active member of SCT serving on the Program Committee (including Chair in 1989) and Board of Directors. He also served as an Associate Editor of the Societys Journal.
