2010 SCT Fellow: Virginia Howard
Virginia has been conducting clinical trials and cohort studies for over 30 years at Wake Forest University and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health. She has held leadership positions in four important stroke research studies of NINDS: Carotid RevaScularization, Endarterectomy vs Stenting Trial (CREST); The Etiology of Geographical and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS), Vitamin Intervention for Stroke Prevention (VISP), Asymptomatic Carotid Artery Stenosis Collaborative Study (ACAS). Finally, Virginia has been a long-time, active member of SCT serving on the Board of Directors, Program Committee (twice), the Education, and as lead instructor and developer of several pre-conference workshops.
