2007 SCT Fellow: Eleanor Schron
Another dedicated public servant from NHLBI, Eleanor Schron has been an ardent supporter of clinical trials, and in particular, the role of the research coordinator in the conduct of clinical trials. Over the years, working on such trials as Studies of Left Ventricular Dysfunction and the Antiarrhythmics versus Implantable Defibrillators Trial, she has provided invaluable guidance and encouragement to research coordinators to get involved in research and clinical trials methodologies. She has encouraged and mentored nursing staff to get involved in the publication of trial results and innovative methodologies. As a scientist herself, this honoree has had a long-standing interest in the assessment of quality of life, and has worked strenuously to have quality of life measures included in trials. She has been a long-time supporter of the Society for Clinical Trials, having served on the Board of Directors and other committees, including currently being on the Student Scholarship Committee.
